Knicks Clinch NBA Title After Game 5 Victory Over Spurs
Jalen Brunson powered the win with a dominant performance, finishing with a game-high 45 points along with three assists, leading New York through another comeback victory in San Antonio and finally ending a 53-year championship drought.
Josh Hart contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Mikal Bridges added 14 points. OG Anunoby also made an impact with 11 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.
On the Spurs’ side, rookie Dylan Harper led the bench scoring with 25 points. Victor Wembanyama posted 19 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks, while Julian Champagnie chipped in 14 points.
San Antonio started strongly, finishing the first quarter ahead 23–13 and maintaining a 42–37 lead at halftime after slowing New York’s offense significantly. The Spurs extended their advantage into double digits in the third quarter and entered the final period up 72–65, but ultimately could not hold off the Knicks’ late surge.
