Hezbollah Claims 24 Operations Targeting Israeli Troops

(MENAFN) Hezbollah announced Thursday that it conducted 24 separate military operations within a single 24-hour period, striking Israeli troops, armored vehicles, and military positions throughout southern Lebanon in what it described as retaliation for ongoing Israeli ceasefire violations and attacks on civilian areas.

The group said the assault wave involved drone strikes and rocket barrages. Among the hardest-hit areas was the town of Haddatha, where Hezbollah fighters reported direct engagements with advancing Israeli ground forces and armored units — clashes the group characterized as among the most intense in recent days.

In a sequence of operational statements, Hezbollah said repeated drone sorties zeroed in on Israeli troop concentrations and fortified positions. The group also claimed that at least four Merkava tanks and two D9 bulldozers were hit across separate strikes. Fighters additionally targeted reinforcing Israeli units with sustained artillery and rocket fire over a period of nearly 30 minutes as forces pushed toward Haddatha.

In the central sector, Hezbollah said it fired a surface-to-air missile at an Israeli Hermes 450 surveillance drone.

The Israeli military, meanwhile, disclosed Wednesday that seven soldiers — including two officers — were wounded when an explosive-laden drone went down in southern Lebanon. One female soldier sustained serious injuries, two officers and two soldiers suffered moderate wounds, and two others were lightly hurt.

The violence persists despite a US-brokered ceasefire that officially took hold on April 17 and has since been extended through early July.

Since March 2, Israel's large-scale military campaign across Lebanon has killed 3,073 people, wounded 9,362 others, and forced more than 1.6 million residents — roughly one-fifth of the country's entire population — from their homes, according to Lebanese officials.
