Iran Judiciary Rejects Trump Claim of Eight Women Facing Execution

(MENAFN) Iran’s judiciary rejected on Tuesday claims made by US President Donald Trump that eight women in the country were facing execution, describing the allegation as false and misleading.

According to the judiciary-affiliated outlet Mizan News Agency, a review of the relevant cases showed that some of the individuals referenced had already been released, while others are facing legal charges that could, depending on court rulings, result in prison sentences rather than capital punishment.

The report emphasized that none of the cases cited involve finalized death sentences.

Trump had previously posted on his Truth Social platform calling on Iranian authorities to release the women, saying such a step would be “a great start” ahead of upcoming negotiations.

Mizan said similar allegations have appeared before in media critical of Iran, often connected to unrest in recent years, but argued that many of those claims were later disproven or withdrawn.

It also cited a case in which an individual previously reported missing during protests had in fact been released months earlier.

The outlet accused Trump of repeating “fake news” and relying on unverified social media claims, while Iranian media more broadly have repeatedly rejected reports of death sentences in such cases, calling them unfounded.
