Iran’s IRGC Shoots Down Armed Drone Over Tehran
The IRGC said in a statement that the Hermes drone was shot down “in the sky of Tehran by the IRGC’s advanced new defense system under the control of the country’s integrated air defense network.” No additional information has been released regarding casualties.
The incident comes amid ongoing US and Israeli airstrikes on Iran since Feb. 28, which have reportedly killed more than 1,340 people, including the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has launched drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military forces, causing casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
