Netanyahu Calls Urgent Coalition Meeting
As reported by a newspaper, Netanyahu requested that the gathering be held within an hour, without disclosing the purpose of the meeting to those invited.
The publication noted that prevailing assessments point to the discussion being tied to the ongoing conflict as well as US initiatives aimed at advancing a potential agreement with Iran.
Earlier that same day, Netanyahu revealed in a recorded message that he had held a conversation with US President Donald Trump. He stated that Trump sees a possibility of achieving an accord with Iran to “protect our vital interests.”
Tensions across the region have continued to intensify following a coordinated US-Israeli assault on Iran that began on Feb. 28, which has so far resulted in more than 1,340 deaths, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In response, Tehran has launched retaliatory drone and missile attacks directed at Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting US military facilities. These strikes have led to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and air travel.
