Israeli Forces Detain Nine Palestinians in Raids Across West Bank

(MENAFN) Israeli forces detained at least nine Palestinians in raids across the occupied West Bank on Monday, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office.

Two teenage boys were taken into custody in the town of Deir Abu Mashal, the office said. In the northern Nablus governorate, troops arrested one man in Hawara after storming his home and another in Asira al-Shamaliya.

Additional arrests were reported in the southern Hebron governorate and in Fawwar refugee camp, where homes were searched. In Bethlehem governorate, three young men were detained in Tuqu, southeast of the city.

The office said daily arrest campaigns target “various age groups, including minors,” describing the operations as part of an “ongoing field escalation” that often involves property damage.

Israel typically does not disclose reasons for detentions, saying they are part of “security campaigns” against individuals it considers “wanted.”

Separately, residents reported Israeli forces raided Yaabad in the northern West Bank, searching homes and detaining several people. Local resident Raed Abu Bakr said troops converted an event hall into a field detention and interrogation center. There was no immediate Israeli comment.

The Palestinian Prisoner Society NGO said Sunday that more than 100 Palestinians have been detained in the West Bank since the start of Ramadan on Feb. 18.

Palestinian data show over 9,300 people are currently held in Israeli prisons, including 66 women and 350 children.

Violence in the West Bank has surged since the Gaza war began in October 2023, leaving more than 1,116 Palestinians dead, about 11,500 wounded, and resulting in roughly 22,000 detentions, according to Palestinian figures.
