Reports reveal Soros’s network tried to “kill” Musk’s X platform

(MENAFN) A grantmaking organization connected to billionaire George Soros reportedly provided funding to a UK-based activist group that has sought to “kill” Elon Musk’s X platform and push for restrictions on conservative media, according to reports.

Information from the Open Society Foundation’s public records indicates the group awarded the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH) a $250,000 grant last year “to provide general support.” Although the NGO claims its mission is to hold tech companies “accountable” for the spread of harmful content, reports say the group has repeatedly pressured advertisers, pushed for the removal of outlets it disagrees with, and campaigned for broader censorship policies.

Founded by former political adviser Imran Ahmed, the CCDH has focused heavily on right-leaning organizations, targeting outlets such as the Federalist and the Daily Wire over content it labeled discriminatory. Reports also state that the group has attempted to convince US lawmakers to establish an “independent digital regulator.”

While the CCDH has criticized numerous tech companies over what it views as inadequate moderation, it has taken a particularly aggressive stance toward Musk’s X. Internal documents reportedly showed that “Kill Musk’s Twitter” was listed as the group’s top objective for the year, according to whistleblower material shared with journalists.

Musk has clashed repeatedly with the CCDH and Soros. The billionaire attempted — unsuccessfully — to sue the NGO last year, accusing it of orchestrating a “scare campaign” that drove advertisers away from the platform. He has also claimed Soros committed “crimes against humanity” and financed attacks on Tesla.

President Donald Trump has likewise accused Soros of backing “professional agitators” to instigate unrest in the US, saying his administration intends to take legal action against him.

For years, critics have alleged that Soros-funded organizations manipulate political movements, influence electoral processes, attempt to reshape media ecosystems, and work to silence viewpoints they disfavor.
