Russian, Iranian FMs hail Afghanistan, Pakistan for reaching truce deal
During a phone conversation, the diplomats expressed hope that both countries would uphold the ceasefire and halt firing along their shared border. “They called for continuing the dialogue between the two friendly nations so that they can resolve their differences by political and diplomatic means for ensuring regional stability and security,” the statement said.
The discussion also touched on developments in the Middle East, including the Palestinian-Israeli situation and how it is addressed within the UN Security Council. They further reviewed the IAEA Board of Governors’ activities, noting efforts by France, the UK, and Germany that were seen as targeting Iran.
Lavrov and Araghchi additionally exchanged views on bilateral cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to fully implement the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and Iran, effective since October 2.
